How the KonMari method affected me...
Published by Josh Banks,
A tidy space makes for a tidy mind.
I know I've already written a blog post about the KonMari method however I was really sceptical when it came to actually try it out for myself. At first, it seemed like a good idea but very labour intensive which I procrastinated until a friend told me about their experience and they seemed overjoyed with the results. So I decided to stop procrastinating and try it out for myself.

Unfortunately for my family, I roped them in too as Marie says "Tidying together is a great way to see if you share the same values and teaches the importance of working together." Collectively we tackled this catastrophic cupboard that was filled to the brim with stuff. To assist us, we used some of Marie's tips on paper items:
*Create one pile and look at each item.
*Aim to get rid of everything.
*Always remove the paper from envelopes.
Clothes
When it came to sorting through my clothes I did as Marie recommends and piled all my clothing on to the bed. Then I lifted each item to see if it sparked me joy, of course, there was t-shirts and jumpers I wear day in and day out cause they're my favourite items of clothing and I kept them.

Then I moved on to my pants as I have so so many pairs of washed out black jeans that I never got rid off because I didn't know which pair was that good pair I wanted to keep. After I have sieved out the good jeans I did Marie's specific jean folding method and I know it sounds really sad but I couldn't be more pleased by how organised my drawers are.

Some people have numerous pairs of shoes for all types of occasions. And that's okay as long as they spark joy and are useful to you. If you like to display your shoes do it in a way that sparks joy to you. It's best to put heavy shoes on the bottom whilst light shoes can go on top. Ways you can arrange your shoes are by:
*Colour
*Shape
*Brand
*Year
Komodo/Miscellaneous
Kitchens are usually full of clutter. It's important to organise foods into categories and store snacks in boxes as it will make them neater and easier to see. Obviously, it's vital that you dispose of any expired food lurking at the back of your cupboards. In addition decide what utensils you need and what you are just clinging onto.
Furthermore if you have any furry friends you should dedicate a certain space specifically for them. Then separate this area for your pets different supplies. If you have a dog it may be beneficial for you to hang your leashes up so it is more convenient when you go to take them for a walk.
When it comes to sentimental items we all find it extremely hard - I know I really struggled - but you have got to ask yourself 'Does it spark joy? And is this something you want in your life going forward?'
So I hope that this has aided you on your cleaning expedition. Let me know how you de-clutter/clean your home, I'd love to know.
Will post soon - Josh :)
