Long Weekend in Paris

Three days (technically four but we were in the airport for most of Monday) might not seem like long enough to indulge into the romanticness and chicness of Paris but if you use your time wisely and as my dad continually said "Make a plan!" you can maximize your time and sight seeing. So to save you the trouble I thought I'd make a recount of my trip, in the hopes that it'll help you as you gallivant through the cobbled streets of Paris.
Friday
Our adventure in wonderland began as soon as we stepped off the train. We were flung into the deep end of the living, breathing and bustling Gare du Nord. We had intended to head to our hotel but ended up wandering around India town, surrounded by the vibrant colours and intoxicating aromas. Until we eventually found an animated bunch of locals on the corner of the street who pointed us in the right direction.
After we had checked in at Hotel D'espagne, we took a stroll down Boulevard Poissonniere where we found this extremely modern student bar based in what I think was an ex-strip club. The food there unfortunately wasn't great but it was nice enough to fill us up from a day of travelling.
Saturday
On the Saturday we woke up quite early and had a lovely breakfast in the hotel before setting off on a wander to the Palais du Louvre. When we entered the monumental Louvre, there was something that caught you're eye everywhere you looked (which can be said about the whole of Paris).
A must see in the Louvre is definitely the Mona Lisa, although you could spend all day in there because of how exquisite it is. However due to the limited time we had we only spent half a day.
(Besides the horrendous face I'm pulling I couldn't believe I was stood in front of the real Mona Lisa)
After the Louvre we walked along the river to the Eiffel tower where a Parisian artist drew this portrait of me. It feels as if you are sitting there for hours and occasionally people stop to witness the magic that the artist creates: it is totally worth the waiting and looks you get from those passing by, though if you want a breath takingly gorgeous portrait.
(Here I am getting drawn ⬆️ and here is the finished product ⬇️)
We then went to Chez Francais for lunch this place is exquisite on top of that I absolutely adore it. We filled up on the most delightful food, I had something with chicken and Dad had something fishy which we demolished before enjoying a very chocolaty desert (despite the fact that I can't remember what we had it was delectable, so delectable in fact I'd definitely go back). After being stuffed to the brim we walked down the Champs Elysees with our mouths open in awe (not literally) but I was mesmerized by everything that I saw portrayed Vogue. At the end of this a la mode street we found the Arc de Triomphe.
(Please excuse the bin that decided to photobomb.)
We spent most of the evening window shopping, which was so much fun when your in Paris. I even got to explore Louis Vuitton which was fascinating, I honestly felt like Alice in Wonderland, it was utterly remarkable. We happened to find a Ferris wheel which we couldn't help to ride although we were unfortunate enough to ride it at sunset so we were partially blinded. It was made better by the fact that there was a Macaroon stand waiting for us at the bottom. If you haven't had the delight of experiencing a Macaroon then you are seriously missing out. These ones were made to perfection!
Another tempting treat that we found that night was a gelato shop right next to our hotel called Amorino where you can go and pay for the cone and get as many flavours as you like which the daintily arrange into the shape of a rose. If gelato isn't your thing they also sell macaroons there, so it's definitely a win, win situation.
(Here is a photo of me laughing because I just got three flavours for one euro)
Sunday
As soon as we got up, there were none stop surprises and experiences throughout. This started off by being guided to the Notre Dame, which is as gigantic, towering and historical as you expect it to be. Which is continued on the inside as you are continually stunned at the beauty of the ancient cathedral.
(It looks like my Dad just figured out we are in Paris)
We headed for some lunch at the lovely Le Saint-Regis. Where we got some fancy flavoured coffees and the french clique of garlic snails, which was extremely nice and the restaurant had a quaint cosy vibe. By the way if you do decide to order snails from here be warned that they give you tongs and a specific fork to use as they expect you to get the snails out of the shells and you don't want to send one flying across the room like I did.
(I don't know why I look so serious in this photo.)
Long story short after lunch we kind of got lost, so we went back to the hotel for a bit to recharge. Before deciding to visit the Eiffel Tower properly! Which is not as much waiting as you think although it did take that long that the sun started to set.
(Just a collage of me being clique because I had to many photos.)
Because we didn't eat before going up the tower we were pretty hungry so to finish off one of the most perfect evenings I've ever had we headed back to Chez Francais (I'm pretty sure this is my favourite restaurant). I don't remember what my main course was but I do remember that it was delicious unlike my drink which was suppose to be flavoured water but it just tasted like weird water but you do get a big bottle of it for the price of one coke so that's a plus. For desert this time I had the French Toast seeing as the American couple that were sitting outside next to us (also enjoying the picturesque view of the Eiffel tower) so strongly recommend it and after one bite I could understand why.
If you ever get the chance to go to Paris I highly recommend that you take it as it is a wonderfully amazing opportunity and there is no doubt that you won't love it. I'm aware of how many photos are in this post but as they a picture tells a thousand words.
Will post soon - Josh :)
