My Experience of NCS: Weeks 3 and 4

Hi, last week marked the end of my NCS experience and so I thought I would share it with you.
If you haven't already you should probably read my blog post about weeks 1 and 2: https://joshbanks.postach.io/post/my-experience-of-ncs-week-1-and-week-2
The main focus of those two weeks was "making a difference". This entales you and team choosing a charity and working towards helping them. For example my team chose Pilgrim Streert, which is a Local Arts Centre for young people in our community, however other groups chose larger well-known charities such as Papyrus Suicide Prevention. To aid our charities all of the groups did a sponsored walk, from which my team raised about £100 per person and there was 12 of us.
We then took some of that money to buy supplies for baking in order to have a Bake Sale, which we earned over £100 from. I had lots of fun baking the cakes with my team, so I highly recommend it as a fundraising idea.
Overall NCS has been an amazing experience, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I think it is less about the activities (even though you do get to do fun, new things) but more about the people you spend time with. I am so glad I was able to meet new and I've loved working with them.
If you are considering doing NCS I urge you to as it is an amazing experience.
