Surviving your GCSEs
Published by Josh Banks,
Hi!
I know it may be a bit late for a blog post about exams, but I thought I'd give you some last-minute tips and tricks so that you don't need to pull all-nighter study sessions and other general words of advice.
Posters
- One of my favourite ways to revise is making posters.
- Put a key theme in the middle and then work your way out.
- I try and draw pictures to help me remember key pieces of information.
- Using different colours is always satisfying, but don’t randomly use colour, make a key and stick to it. For example, quotes for English lit could be in orange and contextual analysis could be in purple.
- Highligthers don’t work for everyone, so don’t feel like you have to use them.

Flashcards
- These have been a lifesaver (especially for last-minute revision)!
- They’re great for learning quotes or definitions.
- Flashcards are super quick and easy to make.
- Flashcards are small enough to store in pockets so you can revise whenever and wherever.
- You can also get a friend to test you on them.
Textbooks, Revision Guides and Practice Papers
- These are great as they are often made by the exam board.
- They contain all of the information you need.
- It's always good to practice and then you can mark to see where you need to improve.
Videos
- There are billions of videos out there.
- Videos will cover every subject and exam board.
- You can always watch movies to learn quotes for English lit or drama.
Even though making sure you revise is important, so is your health. Make sure you:
*Drink plenty of water
*Get plenty of rest
*Eat a healthy balanced diet
*Spend time with friends and family
Remember to do your best because you're great!
I hope you enjoyed this blog post and found it useful. I will be and have been unbelievably busy with GCSEs however I will do my best to try and post. I have a few Profiles of Phenomenal People blog posts planned and one about Duke of Edinburgh, so please stay tuned.
Will post soon - Josh
