What Makes a Christmas Movie?

Hi, as I mentioned in my Christmas Activities post (lifetheblog.postach.io) a good thing to do during the holidays is just curl up in front of the TV and binge. But what makes a christmas movie??



Surely Die Hard is only a Christmas movie because it is set during a Christmas work party. Which would then mean that Ghostbusters 2 and Jaws: The Revenge are also Christmas movies because they are set during the holiday season, but overall the narrative of the movie isn't really affected by Christmas.



However, there are movies where the main focus is Christmas. Like Elf or Get Santa where the movie focuses on the protagionists singing loud for all to hear or pulling a jail break otherwise christmas day is ruined.


So in conclusion I think you can pass literally any movie off as a Christmas movie!! If only you briefly mention the big day, play a classic festive tune and have that happy heartwarming feeling, when they all live happily ever at the end.
